Default Lots of white smoke on startup AOS?

This happens every time I start the car, crop duster amount, very bad.
It clears up pretty fast.
I tried to unscrew the oil filler cap when idling, no way, it's not budging.
My car is a 2002 C4S.

Whatcha guys think?

Thanks, Pete

^Yes and it's best to address it asap. Too much oil can get sucked into the intake and hydro lock the cylinders.

Thank you for the quick replies.

I don't think I will tackle this job myself.

Ballpark figure as to how much this repair will cost?

My car has a Tip if that makes a difference.

You need to call around and find an experienced trusted shop that knows Porsche cars. The job is difficult (major PITA) with the engine in the car. From what others have posted figure $1200-$1500 with engine in car. Depending on age/mileage, there might be a lot of "while you are in there" costs added.

Hydro lock is a real possibility (ask me how I know!). I got lucky, but if I were you I'd flatbed that baby to whoever you choose to do the job. Cheap part that is hard to get to = way too much money, but you have no choice.

Get the AOS replaced as quickly as you can...don't let this simple wear item cause damage to your engine.

The AOS is an inexpensive part, ~$120-150, the shop will charge you between 4 and 8 hours of labor. Cost depends on the labor rate at your shop of choice. Budget $1000, your bill will likely land between $800 & $1200.

I don't usually subscribe to the stop-driving-fix-it-now mentality, but the amount of oil it takes to hydrolock an engine is measured in ml, not cups or quarts...

sadly for a TIP, more labor is involved. If you still have the original IMSB, now is a good time to consider an upgrade.
