I have a 99 C4 and have started to accumulate parts to update it with 996.2 front end parts. My reason? The headlights were very cheap (arriving soon), Litronic, and nearly new and I actually like the looks of the 996.2.

My question is, are their appreciable differences between the 996.1 and 996.2 fenders? Will 996.2 headlights fit in 996.1 fenders? I've studied pictures, but it's hard to tell.

Also, if anyone has some 996.2 fenders for sale, let me know.

i think you will also need front bumper from a 996.2 also - headlight shape at bumper is totally different

Yes, you're right. I have the bumper as well, although I need the air inlet grille.

But some are listed as for 99-04 and others are either 99-01 or 02-04. I'm trying to figure out if there is a significant difference or if they interchange.

out of my league but i would bet the 996.2 fenders are different - hey it sounds like you'll be painting the car? if so, i would seriously consider the side skirts and this "tech-art" rear bumper - i think it looks great and shouldn't add much cost:

and i just looked on ebay and seems to me there is a difference in the headlight shape between 996.1 and 996.2 - below are not the greatest photos of 1st photos 996.1 and second photo 996.2 headlight fender shapes - 996.1 is longer/narrower - 996.2 is shorter wider at base - both have different mounting points/etc:

From the looks of the fender pics I'd think it has to be different too.

This conversion has been done many times before. You just need fenders, front bumper, headlights.

Make sure you get the headlight trays with the 996.2 fenders just to be on the safe side.
