Seriously considering adding a 996...really find the C4s attractive but also like mk1 & mk2 full aero pkg'd cars. My question has to do with texturized finish inside the wheel wells. On A/C cars that I'm familiar with, all wheel wells have that texturized finish when you run your fingers just along the inside edge. The car I looked at, the rear fenders had it but the front did not. Is this typical? Tia.

I don't understand "A/C cars" in the context of your question. Can you throw me a bone?
The front fenders have plastic liners; there is embossed metal heat shielding visible inside the rear wheel wells. Is that what you're referring to?
The front part of the rear fenders are actually part of the panel that makes up each side of the 996 body; the rest is part of the bumper cover, and I'm having a tough time visualizing what you mean.

sorry...aircooled cars. What I'm referring to is the absence of a factory texturized finish(sometimes referred as chip guard/stone guard) just inside the fender well lips which might indicate crash repair on an aircooled car. The 4s I looked at was smooth on the front fenders and 'texturized' on the rear. This particular really looked nice so I'm thinking this might be typical of the 996.

I just checked my '02 C2, front is smooth, rear is textured. Factory finish. Totally normal. Good luck with your search!
For those of you that don't get what he means run your hands along the inside edge of the wheelwell and you'll feel it (or not depending on front or back). He means that part of the fender/wheelwell that you would "roll" if you needed more tire clearance.

Mike, just FYI, as you can tell, we don't use the term "a/c" or "air-cooled". When referring to those cars prior to the 996, just say "lawnmower-engined" and everyone will know what you mean.
