New 996 Owner with some trouble

Just out of curiosity - why did the dealer offer to buy the car back? That seems like an unusual response to a hose blowing off its fitting, like Groovzilla, I'd get the details for that offer before it gets forgotten...

Maybe 'tremendous' was the wrong word to use. It was a good value based on condition, maintenance records, age and mileage.

private party market now on a C4S with:
85-95K miles about $25-$27K
95K -110K miles is about $21-$23K
120K-135K miles about $18.5-$20K
all above very subjective depending on mileage/options/service records/IMS, etc but ballpark.
point is and having said that, i'm going to guess mileage at 110K and you paid in the $26K range for your 110K mileage C4S. am i close?
point is dealer always allows for markup - not always bad as many buyers need to finance the car.
if your car is in the 100K-110K mileage range and bare bones/little or few options with orig IMS and you paid top dollar, you may want to reconsider and find one you can PPI and be more comfortable owning.
i would suggest you take the car to another shop - bringing it to the same dealer is not helping your case - have a good indy shop or dealer PPI the car and find out what you have paid for - then make your decision.

I was able to locate the coolant hose that fell off last night and reattached it with a new band clamp. It did appear to be a failed hose clamp. The hose was coming off the back of the engine right next to the alternator behind the belt. The car has been re-filled with coolant and the system has been burped, along with a new OEM coolant tank cap (04 part, blue) to replace the aftermarket cap.
The next step is to get the car into the local indy Porsche shop - Rennology. I've have owned a Porsche before and had some work done with them. It was a good experience so I trust they will be able to figure out what's going on.

After rereading this thread, it sounds like the 30 days have come and gone, so I suppose that's moot?
Sounds like you're on top of things - new clamps, new coolant, new cap - so let us know how it goes. Hopefully this is done and you can concentrate on the go-fast gauges instead of the water temp.

It's been a while but I wanted to update the thread. The car was take to an independent Porsche shop for a full inspection and nothing was found to be wrong with the engine. Worn hoses and clamps were the culprit and I'm having a few other worn components replaced while it's in the shop having the IMS upgraded (LN Engineering IMS). Otherwise the car is in top shape for it's age and mileage. I'm looking forward to getting it back sometime this week. Thanks again for the assistance.
