Question to everyone here.
Does EPS make good products? From what I can tell I like how they try to offer better than stock products at reasonable prices but thats only my opinion.
What is it about their non stock clutch that you don't like? It claims to be an "upgrade" to the stock clutch and it shows it has more material. Do you think the EPS engineers made subpar products to try to sell something?
Why would you choose a standard clutch over an upgraded clutch with more material?

Hey Glenn!
Good to hear from you. Thanks for your experience with EPS. I may go down that road.
I'll send you a PM to touch base.
I'll say hi to the guys from Team BAR for you,
Pete

No magic here:
EPS is using a standard Sachs clutch kit, but one for an older Audi A4, A6. It has the same mounting as a Porsche clutch, but it has a 10 mm wider face (40 vs. 30 mm wide, same 240 mm OD). For a 987 Cayman 6 speed, the following parts are used:
Disc - Sachs 186528441
Pressure plate - Sachs 3082308041
Kit (incl release bearing) - Sachs 3000387101
At a little over $300 their prices are good. Tough to buy this kit cheaper, even if you can find it.
All else being equal, a clutch with a smaller radius of gyration (radii to face center) will have a smaller holding capacity. Going from a 30 to 40 mm face will reduce the radii slightly (same OD) but having more clutch face to wear is an advantage.

I paid about the same price for my Sachs kit as the quoted price for the EPS kit, but my Sachs did not include a throw-out bearing...
Had I seen this kit, I probably would have bought it. I did install an EPS cylindrical bearing 5k miles ago (holding up fantastic).

Hi MoeMonney. Thank you for your questions.
The EPS Power Friction Clutch Discs and Kits are equipped with a specialized Raybestos or Ferodo Dynamex friction compound that is far superior to its OEM replacement. Furthermore, our Clutch Discs and Kits have an astounding 30% more usable friction material and contact area. What does all of this mean? A Dramatic increase in clutch life, increase holding power, and a smoother engagement.
Technically speaking, OEM has 30.15mm contact area compared to our EPS Clutch Disc which has 40.17mm contact area.
Our EPS Clutch Kits include three main parts:
1 clutch pressure plate
1 clutch disc
1 clutch release bearing
You can see the applications to our EPS Clutch kits here. If you are still not convinced, you can see NickHend’s post https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...lutch-kit.html proving how our product is superior in terms of friction material and contact area.
Hope this clears up any questions you may have. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us.
Thanks,
EPS Team
