Default 996 vs 993 video

Davide Cironi loves cars and his website is filled with his driving them. He leans toward Italian machines but also plays with French and German stuff. If you don't speak Italian you have to study his face to get a sense of what he is feeling. Anyway this is his (and some other Porsche fans) choice between the 996 and 993.

My own feelings as I watched are that I started to feel the 996 was better looking...inside and out. Nothing against the 993...it is just starting to age for me.

I just happen to speak Italian and I can interpret this video for the RL crowd...If you are a 993 fan then you will feel(after watching the video) that the 993's superiority shone through and you will still believe that the 996 is an embarrassment to Porsche. However, if you are a 996 fan then you will probably feel(again, after watching the video) that the 996 is the superior car BUT you will walk away with a continued appreciation for the 993.

Same stuff, different day...

The water cooled is better than any air cooled machines. It has to be or Porsche would still be air cooled. BTW great to see all the different models in the video.

Yeah, it gets tiring when someone bangs the same drum over and over.

The 997 was better than the 996 for a couple of months, and then the Volkswagen GTI was better than all 911's for several months. It's good to see that the 996 is once again the best 911.

Well, the point is that 996's are just plain better than 993's.
In all respects.
Not that the 993 is a bad car.
It had its day.
And that day has passed.
And the value argument is simply irrelevant. I'm literally sitting on top of a museum full of cars that are worth way more than most 993's. But, almost without exception, I'd rather drive a 993 than any of those cars because the 993 is a better car than them.
The 996 is better than the 993.

It sure does. I posted the video because I thought some would enjoy it...which I thought was the point of this place.

Actually, just for historical accuracy, I regretted getting rid of the 996 and buying the 997 within the first week but could not get the dealer to unwind the deal. The longer I had the 997 the less I liked it overall. The exterior was fine but the interior is ugly and the chronosport technology, in my opinion, is overrated. The only time I enjoyed it was when driving it very fast...and my wife hated it.

So in the end, after three months I dumped the 997 and found a good deal on a GTI...which I still have and enjoy almost as much as the new 996. But not completely as much as the 996. The GTI is a great 4 door 4 passanger ride. The 996, for me, has a very classic sports car look and feel, I love the interior and the exterior and the balance of the basic suspension set up.

With all the buying and selling and shopping and video watching, my appreciation for the exterior lines of the 996 grew and my appreciation of the 993/997 exteriors became less.

End of story

I think there's a logic tree in there somewhere, but I can't quite make it out

I guess what I want to know is...how the hell did you convince your wife it was cool to buy/sell that many cars in that time frame? F*** the cars, you're my hero for pulling that off without waking up dead a single time.

We question if he really owns a 911 yet we take him having a wife for granted?

I love JohnnyIrish, but at this point, I think I need to see titles for both with his name on them.

Some things just require a leap of faith
