Not counting what came before the Alfas, all told it has been 20 cars plus two race cars in 28 years...not counting the cars I talked her into buying. I have no idea how I ended up so lucky. However car turn over in the last two years, ending with the 997 and second GTI, did make her take a deep breath and remind me that our money does have to last for the rest of our lives. That prompted me to sell the two Rolexes to finance the latest 996.
From my more diseased point of view, only the 997 was a mistake, if I hadn't done that I would still be with the first 996. But I don't know if that qualifies as sanity. The good news is that my wife really does like this 996 Cab.
Yes I am very very lucky. And happy.

For those who enjoyed Cironi's You Tube video, he has many more, many with sub titles. One of my favorites is his drive of a Lancia Delta Integrale...he almost passes out in ecstasy.

I met my wife in Junior High School...we became friends before we got romantically involved over a decade later. My history of going through cars is pretty excessive and it goes back to the late seventies and my first Alfa Romeo. More than once she has come home to learn that I have sold her car just to give her the car I became bored with so that I could buy something new.

For those who don't get Sports Car Digest here are some great vintage Porsches and Ferraris.

Well, the point is that 996's are just plain better than 993's.
In all respects.
Not that the 993 is a bad car.
It had its day.
And that day has passed.
And the value argument is simply irrelevant. I'm literally sitting on top of a museum full of cars that are worth way more than most 993's. But, almost without exception, I'd rather drive a 993 than any of those cars because the 993 is a better car than them.
