Do any of these articles mention the factory fire that interrupted production of the early 996s? I believe that is what Jake felt led to quality control issues in the later ones as Porsche cut corners to keep the lines moving. But it is hard to judge the new car reviews as they have little value in terms of longevity. It is the owner's reviews years later that show the ups...and downs...with the cars.

As always with all older Porsches, it's the less popular period options that people are now seeking out and prepared to pay more to get! For example, the sunroof delete and rare "jelly bean" colours like Speed Yellow and Biarritz White (both of which were the standard no cost colours in the UK) and Zanzibar Red (which was the GT3 launch colour) are very much in demand, especially here in the UK!

I am one month into my 996 ownership and very much enjoying getting to know the car and reacquaint myself with the many excellent forums, like Rennlist and 911uk.com!

Totally agree that the 996 has the nicest rear - and side angle looks.

It's the best looking 911 next to the early long hoods.

Porsche 993 Vs Porsche 996 C4S - Air-cooled or Water-cooled?

The question they pose is which would you take? My answer the 993 sell it and buy a Turbo 996
