positive 996 articles

Do any of these articles mention the factory fire that interrupted production of the early 996s? I believe that is what Jake felt led to quality control issues in the later ones as Porsche cut corners to keep the lines moving. But it is hard to judge the new car reviews as they have little value in terms of longevity. It is the owner's reviews years later that show the ups...and downs...with the cars.

The analysis of what made a 996 desirable at that time (I would guess early noughties) makes me laugh.
As always with all older Porsches, it's the less popular period options that people are now seeking out and prepared to pay more to get! For example, the sunroof delete and rare "jelly bean" colours like Speed Yellow and Biarritz White (both of which were the standard no cost colours in the UK) and Zanzibar Red (which was the GT3 launch colour) are very much in demand, especially here in the UK!
I am one month into my 996 ownership and very much enjoying getting to know the car and reacquaint myself with the many excellent forums, like Rennlist and 911uk.com!

Suspension upgrades are the best thing you can do for your 996 .
Even on a low mileage car , the bushes are done by now .
