Classic Porsche Decals... Anyone?
 

My new car will be a bit of a blank canvas. Just wondering if anyone has ever put the classic "Carrera" or "PORSCHE" stripes on their 996. If so, please share your pic. I'm looking for inspiration.

Here's mine.

The silver decals on the black 996 are sharp, although I'd like them in black. I believe a company in the UK produces them, but I might be mistaken.

Admittedly, I love all that stuff.........

I believe there was an extensive thread on decals a few months back. Try a quick search, lots of pics if I recall......

I did the yellow stripe to match the Speed Yellow rotors:thumbup::thumbup:

kcattorney - Arrives late this week. But as luck would have it, I'm leaving for a long vacation. My crack dealer, I mean auto dealer, will hang onto it in his show room. Thinking of having stripes put on it while I'm gone.

We've got an empty spot in the museum where you can park it. Just drop it off and leave the keys with my paralegal. I'll make sure it gets in there safe and sound.
On a completely unrelated note, does anybody know if you drive a 996TT in reverse, do miles come off the odometer? Kind of like in Ferris Bueller with the dad's Ferrari?

Ive got the Carrera stripes and Ive been toying with the idea of putting them on. These look pretty good

Where do you buy them and I assume as the car is an evolution they don't make them for different years? That is, one set for all cars?

Here's a thing--I have a black car. What would you think about flat black plastidip wheels and a flat black decal. Would be oh so subtle.

I thought about doing stripes on the frunk like Magnus Walker did on his 997 and painting my rear wing only the same color. Since my Cab has beige interior I am thinking using satin gold.

My car is black. I have been thinking long and hard about satin black "carerra" stripes and logo on the side... Would basically not be visible unless you were right up on the car. Kind of a ghost decal.

There is/was a set for sale on the Member to Member classified section recently.

Yea RRTEC, that's exactly what I was proposing but flat back so it would give it a little more visibility. I guess at $50 from eBay you could give it a shot without a lot of financial exposure.

My question is how hard would they be to take back off?

Vinyl decals come off really easy. Sometimes they'll come off all at one time and sometimes you have to pick at it. The worst thing though is if they're on for a long time and the paint around them fades... then you take them off and it looks like you had a sticker on... forever.
Might be a cool effect if you could plan it that way though... sort of a ghost decal.
