Cobalt Blue over Black in the US? Does it exist?
While wading through all of the want ads (and if you've visited the "Found it on Craigslist Today" thread, you can tell that's what I've been doing), I've really started to like Cobalt Blue (in addition to Guards Red, Speed Yellow and Seal Gray). But, anything except a black interior is a deal killer for me. It seems like all of the Cobalt Blue cars have either gray or saddle interior. After searching for just pictures of 996s in Cobalt Blue, the only ones I see with black interior are in the UK.
So, my question is, has anybody seen a Cobalt Blue over Black interior 996 (NA or Turbo) in the US? Is it a unicorn?

Based on me looking over various 4sale ads over the past 5 years and not coming across any in that color combo, I'd say it's a Unicorn.
You maybe better off buying a Cobalt blue car and redoing the interior. Maybe contact Paul Waterloo here for various tips as he's converted his whole interior to "Coach" edition.

I sold my Cobalt Blue over black 996 GT3 in 2010. So yes, they do exist.
Why did I sell that car??

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a 996 Cobalt Blue GT3 model. Was that a custom order or Porsche exclusive? I doubt you have the window sticker but I'd be curious if there wasn't another line item for paint in there somewhere.

I also had a cobalt blue 996 (2002 C2) with a black exterior, and just sold it.
When it was really dirty (which was most of the time), the dirt made it look like it had slight purple tint to it. But when it was clean, it was an awesome color, and significantly better than any of the other shades of blue I have seen on 996s or Boxtsers of that era.
Now that I think about it, it was a rare color. I'm a little surprised it was not more popular.

I believe it was 2002 when the Cobalt Blue became an option for Porsche, $3,000 option that is. Tan seems to be the "correct" interior color pairing for blue paint. Dispite my 6 month search for my wife's 2007 IS350 we had to accept the cashmere interior to get it in Black Sapphire Pearl. The most beautiful paint I have ever seen & big reason we choose that car.

I didn't buy it new, actually. I got in early 2005 and it was about a year old. I vaguely remember it being around $3k on the sticker in the ad for the car when I bought it.

Good to know the unicorn does exist. Now to just find one. Or one in guards red or speed yellow or even seal gray (if the seal gray has the right mods).

Zenith blue on a mk2 is a unicorn...i don't think i've ever seen that one. Quite a few zenith mk1's though
996 natural grey leather is pretty much black. I searched over 3 years for a cobalt/black when i came across cobalt/natural grey and was sold on it. I'll post some pics of lapis vs. zenith and lapis vs. cobalt and some natural gray also.
