Issues with Airbag Deactivation Bar
Hi all. I'm having an issue activating my Airbag Deactivation Bar. Here's the story.
I purchased the bar from Suncoast and installed it per the Pelican instructions. Install only involved two bols and a single electrical clip.
Immediately got an airbag fault/airbag light illuminated.
Went to my indy who cleared the airbag fault and enabled the Child Seat Occupancy function with a PST2.
I thought I would be good to go after that. Not so.
I buckle in the Porsche seat (with appropriate male buckle) and I still get the same airbag fault.
My tech thinks the actual bar is faulty.
Is there anyway to clear an airbag fault without a PST2?
I welcome any thoughts. Just want to make sure my little guy is safe.

When you start the car with the buckle inserted the airbag light will come on and flash for a bit (10 seconds? been awhile since I plugged mine in so I don't recall the time) but then goes out. That is it's normal operation.
If it stays on then there is an issue and your tech should be able to read out what it's complaining about with the PST2.

Something is wrong then (I'm assuming it does not light when the buckle is not inserted?) and the PST2 should provide some relevant diagnostic info.
There is a webpage out there that details how to build your own deactivation device and it's not really complicated. As I recall it's just a series of resistors, so while possible there isn't much to go wrong in the bar itself.
After you get more info from your tech you might also reach out to Suncoast. I've always found them extremely helpful when I had questions about something I bought from them.

As long as I've owned the car, he has has been in the back. He's 9 now and the back is getting a little uncomfortable for him.
I won't put him in the front until i know that bar is working properly.

Our 3yr old loves the 911 and I'm sure that's at least partially due to him being able to ride up front and see what is going on.
I also take pleasure it telling off the ninnies that come up to me in the parking lot and try to tell me how horrible of a parent I am for letting their child ride in the (perfectly safe and secure) front seat.

Yeah I agree that the rear would be cramped for a 9yo. I thought you had an infant.

Just to follow up on this...I had my local dealer take a look at the coding for the bar. The indy didn't correclt activate the bar, which was causing it to throw an airbag fault. All is sorted now, and my son is beyond excited (and so am I)!

Hey guys. Quick q.
So I when plugged in its suppose to blink for a minute and then go out. When unplugged it does the same thing for me.
Is this right?
