where is the dme relay?
Replacing my fuel pump relay and dme relay just for preventative maintenance but have no clue where the dme relay is. Just replaced the Fuel pump relay but not much is coming up in terms of searches.
Where it is in reference to the fuel pump relay would help. Thanks!

I think according to that it points me to the fuel pump relay which I replaced.
I've googled it and some places it says slot 13 but thats my fuel pump relay and I even found a list of relay locations and nothing to be found.
Am I just used to my e30 BMW which has a "main" relay for the DME?

The dme and I think it's relay are under the back seat parcel shelf - it is quite easy to get too - search renntech for the diy - but you have to put seats down, pull carpet up at the sides and then the whole shelf just lifts off - there are a few metal screws to remove the aluminum plate covering the dme on one side and fuse/relay box on other - but if it is working - why replace ? Worst case - just carry a spare and a screwdriver - it would be a quick fix at side of road ...

FYI, these relays hardly go bad unlike the e30's. Not really sure why you are bothering with it. There's probably a better chance of something on your engine failing before one of these.

Got it! Well that is good news. Guess I am still OCD on maintenance from looking after an 80s car such as my e30 haha.
So far the 996 has been great to me. Bought it in Florida in December and drove her back up here to the Chicago area in January. No issues at all. Just passed 100k but about 40ish k on the engine (was replaced during warranty for RMS issue).

The DME relay is in the 1st relay position, which is the upper most left hand relay position.
However, unless you have clear evidence this relay is bad I'd leave it alone. Alpine003 covered it quite thoroughly.
