Just bought a very nice condition used passenger seat for my 2000 996 C4 (ebay).
Separated bottom from seat back. Want to use bottom to replace existing passenger seat bottom (cracked, ugly, etc). Planning on using seat back to replace existing drivers seat back (portion closest to the door "bolster?" in rough shape).
Two questions (have not been able to find on the forum):
1) Any reason why the seat back from passenger side would not work on driver's side Ie is there a slight angle difference from left to right?
2) Is there a special socket to remove the anchor bolt which fastens the seat rail to the floor? Looks like a six point bolt that might require a special socket, not sure.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Apterr-Buffalo/Niagara Falls cold as hell so I might as well work on the car (I bring all the parts in the basement to work in warmth).
The socket you need is an E12. Any auto parts place should have it. I can't answer if the passenger or drivers seat is interchangeable but it makes sense that it would be. When you take the seats out make sure to keep the car key atleast 10 feet away otherwise you will get an airbag light. There is a good tutorial in the DIY section regarding changing to GT3 style seats. Look at it for some tips. Good luck with the project!
