Default How to remove the phone?

My 996.2 has the phone - yes, the handset with the wire attached to the passenger side of the center console. Anyone know how to remove it???

I mean, I could of course just grab hold and pull. But I don't want to leave either an ugly empty mounting bracket or a big hole in the dash. And rumor has it the OEM replacement parts are mighty expensive. Anyone know of a solution? Either that just leaves a plain surface there, or perhaps where I replace this antique with a smart phone holder?

Thanks!

I removed mine and replaced it with an iPod Touch that I just velcro'd on to cover the spot. I bought the cable from Becker Sound. Another thing you can do is try to find the console piece in your color from someone who has done a console delete. I did that and have the piece on hand though I'm not currently using it because of the iPod. I will use it if a replace my head until with one that is Bluetooth compatible.

I removed the whole lot, and bought a replacement cover from a wrecker at http://www.ebay.com/itm/161045645217?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT.

Looks like a good result. I wouldn't always want a phone there, so I'd want to velcro in (or otherwise attache) a phone mount. But I fear it would need to be rather large (and ugly) to cover the holes left by the screws holding the Porsche phone. Maybe the solution is to cover that area with some matching leather from a car upholstery specialist ...

Thanks! If I go that route, the price sure looks better than what I'd expect for a new part!
