Three Wheelin'
I saw that it had previously been listed recently, but didn't know the back story. It got up to $37,800 with fees, which is actually pretty good money. Per the new listing, and its mentioned twice, it was serviced in November. The service included a LN IMS bearing, clutch, water pump, belts, AOS, thermostat, coolant expansion tank, fluids and spark plugs. Will be interesting to see if the service and replacement of wear items changes the end result.

I bought my car on that site in April for $33,333 (+fees) and it's very, very similar other than mileage and Carfax (mine is clean, this one isn't). I don't know what the seller is expecting. It looks like they're looking for Carrera 4S money. Some people really geek out about the early '99s having the mechanical throttle and the ambers, but I don't think it commands that much of a premium. (It was incidental to me--I was just looking for a Guards Red 996.1 with an Aerokit.)
I hope I'm wrong and that car finds a good home this time.

Buying an aero car for $45 plus is pretty common, however none that I know of have a ding on the carfax. I think that's the driving factor here. In a few years my guess is the dings won't matter as much as they do now. We are seeing that in the E30 M3 world now. Where even a nice salvage title car can bring a lot of money if it's redone properly.
Agreed. And, unfortunately, I think what the seller is expecting is to get the $40K+ they originally wanted plus whatever they paid for the maintenance/upgrades. If I were a betting man, I would expect it to fail to make reserve again.

Mid 30's is definitely the majority, there have only been two outliers as far as I recall. Now I wouldn't be surprised if dealers have aero's listed for $45k+ though.

I personally paid over $45 for each of mine. The white car will have $50 in it when I'm done.
Soon enough the good examples will be consistantly bringing more than 996 turbo money.
Non aero cars with 60k miles are bringing $32k all day long.

This 996.1 just made this newer GT3 look pedestrian. The newer 911's are great but the 996.1 aero car sets the bar. One of the best looking 911's of all time.

Indeed it is. And it is, coincidentally, exactly what I want my car to look like!
I've just gotta get rid of those pesky ambers (heresy, I know) and swap my SportClassic wheels for SportDesign wheels!
Unfortunately, I priced out new lights on Suncoast Porsche, and it's quite a pretty penny:
