2004 C4S, tried to put gas in her this morning. Would not allow any gas to flow in to the fuel filler tube. Kept spitting it back out. Gas tank was nearly empty. Any idea why it won't take gas? Thanks, Bob

This may be your problem

The huge spring-loaded vapor recovery/condom on CA nozzles makes it worse. Insert the nozzle upside down &/or retract it away from the filler neck to ease flow.

It's probably the gas pump itself. Try another pump. I have had this happen to me on numerous cars and from different pumps. Hope this helps

Maybe it's a diesel?

From this post in Renntech:
http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...l-filler-area/

I would check #30, in the engine compartment before I changed the one by the front wheel.

These are all in the fuel tank/filler area:

#9, carbon canister valve in below diagram

#12, bleeder valve in below diagram
#21, tank vent valve in below diagram

This one is in the engine bay:

I had the problem with my 996... first ensure the metal flapper valve that pushes down when you insert a gas fill nozzel is working... it sends a signal to the tank vapor valve. use your finger a listen real close and push the flapper and you should here a soft "click"... what can happen is there is a short pencil shaped device up under the valve underneath the wheel well liner by the fill opening... if it is loosened or falls away from the flapper then the signal is not sent properly.

Nothing yet. Still need to use the gas I just got. I don't think it is my car so much as it was the brand new gas pump. They were all new and the two I tried wouldn't pump a drop. It wasn't due to lack of venting, it just wouldn't operate at all.
I went to the next station with older pumps and there was no problem. I'm just afraid that if it is the new fangled pump, eventually I will not be able to fuel up anywhere without some type of adapter.

Perhaps your car identifies as electric now? 🤷🏻

I had this problem once and it was a fuse. I forgot which one I had to change. I would do a board search, that was where I figured it out.

Check fuse E6, that fixed the problem in mine.

Any idea what it could be if fuse E6 keeps blowing when inserting fuel filler?

Are you sure the fuse is blowing as soon as you insert the fuel filler?

I believe E6 handles the fuel door locking actuator.

Try locking the car with your keyfob, and then try opening the fuel door. Does it open when the car is locked? If not, then the actuator is malfunctioning.

I just ran into this very issue last night. 25 minutes to nickel in $38 in fuel. Most vexing.

Purchased a week ago and took fuel on Friday no problem. I DID attempt to “top it up”. Could this be a contributing issue?

Last owner warned me of the issue and stated Fuel Vent Valve was recently replaced and he’d hoped issue was fixed
