I just now notice that, also he said the display on the climate control is shot. Can't really make out the numbers or letters but AC still works. This sounds like an expensive part to replace.

I'd put money on the current owner being responsible for the hack job on the bumper. Who in they're right mind would do that or buy it like that?

AS for red, I do like some red interiors but this looks horrible color or shade wise. They do seem to wear less then other colors in the P pallet from what little I've seen.

If it were me, I would keep saving my money until I could buy a good one. A cheap 911 can be one of the most expensive cars to buy. My advice, don't go down that rabbit hole.
I wasn't serious about this car, just wanted feedbacks from you guys. I was also curious why this car was at this price and now I know. Thanks for the advice.

Could be just what someone is looking for, you never know.

The climate control problem is pretty common. Seems more prevalent on older cars. I believe there is a self fix kit available for this.

Too bad it's Tiptronic, no offense to Tip owners

I understand that Tip cabs are big sellers in some markets, but IMO this car has limited appeal on two fronts (and I say that as someone with a cab, albeit one that has the proper number of pedals). Add in the salvage title and this is looking like one hard-to-sell car.

The climate control wouldn't bother me per se, but it would make me wonder about other nagging issues and deferred maintenance. Of course, it's possible that the owner's mechanic -- or, God forbid, a Porsche dealer -- quoted him a stupid price to replace the climate control box and he decided to sell instead.

Still, the price sounds about right to me ... assuming there are no other issues lurking. Anything else going on, like a funky top, and $12,500 might be optimistic.

Repair kit is pretty cheap -- $50 - $75, IIRC. A used unit is maybe a couple hundred bucks (or less) and easy to replace. No big deal either way.

Always a story to back up low prices.

Given the new info, it's probably priced about correct. Depending on what the damage was, could be a good no worries car to just drive into the ground and have fun with until it blows up.

What does the repair kit do, replace the display or just fix the old one? What does IIRC stand for? I've been seeing this often but clueless. Sorry for the newbie questions as I am still learning.

What do you guys think of this one? Love the looks of the CS4 wide body.

This is not a 996 but it fits the budget, any thoughts?

1 - lot of money for a beetle
2 - lot of money for a beetle with >100k miles

edit: the upgrades are pretty nice, decent value for the money there. Negotiate down a bit & there's a good chance you'll extract some value before it needs big $$.

Yeah it does have high mileage but it seems like it was well taken care of. It has all of the options from factory plus the upgrades which makes it a good value. Decisions decisions..

That car looks Super clean. It is the bad year for the m97 motor or was the m96 still in the 05 997? I know the 05 987 motor is known for the ims issue.

If it was really a launch vehicle, then I believe it should still have the m96 (unless the motor was replaced at some point). I thought, however, from Jake's comments that the earliest 997s actually had the 996 interior too, but this one clearly doesn't.

Nothing bad about either of those things, just that I'd want a CoA on the car to back up their claims.
