Exactly... I'm tempted to go on their Ebay ad and throw in an offer in the $8-9k range, just to see what they have to say. I know it will be declined, but I think it's been listed for a while now. You're looking at what, $7-10K nowadays for a rebuilt motor with install?

I would plan on $12k+ to get that car back on the street. $7k would probably be top end for that roller.

ooff... a bit more than I was thinking, but I definitely believe it. I'm guessing they're willing to sit on it for a while, eventually the price will come down as they continue to get offers for less than $10k.

For everyone who was gushing over $10k being cheap for 99, here is your chance to put your money where your mouth is. There were at least two posters saying that they would buy high mileage 99 for 10k cash just because it was a steal. Play ball.

That's definitely a player. My kid still has his learner's permit, but I'm thinking a high mileage 996 in the $10k range would be hard to beat. Would really like to get a C4 for him. And before anybody flames me, my older son had a 951 as his first car. No accidents, no tickets, no reports of dumbassery from the neighbors. I'll probably end up getting him a BMW sedan or something with 4 doors, but man it's hard to pass up a well-maintained high mileage 996 for $10k. I don't think I'd bother getting collision insurance for it in order to keep costs down. If he wrecks it, you sell the carcass and move on.

160k miles, egg yolk lights, ticking bomb, etc. But holy hell what a deal! Why wouldn't you at that price - for a track toy if nothing else!
