Factory Cars that are Faster than our 996's

So what factory cars are faster than our 996's in a straight run? Post the usual cars you see every now and then like maybe STI's, Evo's, Lexus, Mercedes?

RngTrtl 08-20-2014 10:39 AM

waaaaaaay too many to many to count.

Are you limiting this to 996 year model cars, or current model cars as well?

Yeah our cars are pretty slow compared to a lot of more modern cars.

However, a lot more modern cars don't have what we have; with exhaust our cars sound like some of the best on the road, the dynamics are great, great body lines, and a smile while driving is almost guaranteed (all subjective, just my .02)

That was not my question.

Please re-read it.....

The 996 wasn't really designed for straight line performance. My wife's new Audi SQ5 SUV would smoke my C4S at altitude. At sea level it would be really close!

1955 and onward corvettes and a few late model pick up trucks etc

ZX9RCAM 08-20-2014 11:36 AM

Top end it will fair pretty well against same year model cars, though....

Based in the attached website the 996's are faster than I would have thought. I think it's a little over stated... Personally, it's not the fastest red light to red light racer, but the seat is the pants feeling is great.

My old E39 or E60 M5 would smoked my 4S in a straight line, but it's just not the same thing. They felt like I was going 50 when doing 100 and my Porsche feels like I'm doing 100 when I'm going 50.

This, from an earlier thread, is probably the most authoritative list you'll find:

Cool Traffic lights challenge!!!

I barely have a week with my Porsche, but every time I go and stop in a traffic light, I get challenged
Is this normal when you own a Porsche
My list and results so far :
Toyota celica street prepared/ won
Ford mustang Shelby/ won
Ford raptor/ won
Chevy camaro 2SS/ won
Dodge challenger SRT/ won
Honda Odyssey/ won (I'm not kidding on this one, neither on my result )
By the way the driver of the minivan a hot, blond soccer mom.
Porsche 2014 911 Turbo S/ lost

Sorry about that, lets say all 996's from 1999-2005.. I know 3.6L have more power but I dont want to limit it to only 3.4L or 3.6L

Still not what I asked.

I am talking about year models of cars to compare against, what year models are you allowing in the mix, only 99-05, or current year models as well?
