Default Brake pad cooling fins...LOL

I wanted to post here to save some poor newb soul coming on here touting that it knocked off 30ft to his braking distance.

Discuss...

I predict at least 4 pages of the usual **** obsessive Rennlist analysis and bench theories, followed up by someone asking if these can be painted to match their calipers.

Gator, was that with the unicorn semen supplement added or not? I forget if you were able to obtain some before.

Unicorn semen supps are on international back order. I had to settle for the Mastodon tears since they were readily available.

I think that producer of those shims posted somewhere on this forum when they launched the product. If I recall correctly KK purchased a set.

...and then removed them so he could clean and reinforce them before never actually using them.

ironic that the only reason some porsche owners do not buy these things is they do not want to bother with the fuss of cleaning them

Clearly the cooling fin mod lacks a few essential features:

a. The fins are not oriented optimally to ensure that the air flow around the wheel maximizes heat removal.

b. Cross-drilling the fins will improve performance. Or should they be slotted instead?

c. The absence of the proper, Porsche-approved heat transfer paste between the caliper body and the fins suggests shoddy installation worksmanship and could even lead to degraded performance relative to unmodified calipers.

Alpine003...here's the start of your "**** obsessive" posts. LOL

Thanks for the link. I didn't know about this awesome site. A one stop shop for sure.

I've had to restrain myself and start off with small order at first.

I guess they're also out of Unicorn Semen as I didn't see any on the site.

Wrong forum!!

That is obviously from a 964 or 993 being the fins are air cooler.

The 996 version of this mod has the pads water jacketed with plumbed lines to the radiator.
