So, I experienced the dreaded AOS failure
Pretty dramatic event I must say
For those who have not seen it in person I do not recommend it
Driving down highway I glanced in my rear view mirror and saw a humongous (and I mean big) plume of smoke pouring out of the back of my car, blocking the road and sky
Pulled car off road
*** end covered in dirty black oily bits
Tail pipes full of it
Couldn't get the oil full cap off, huge vacuum build up
No noise, no dash lights, oil pressure all good, water temp good, just catastrophic AOS failure
Had her fixed up as good as new
New AOS, oil change, bit of a cleaning
Reset OBC
On the road again and happy
Still a bit of stink coming out of exhaust but otherwise all good
Very scary experience I must say
She's at 135000km

Did plugs today, changed all coils
original ones were all corroded and cracked, number one had a big split in it, whenever it rained hard I'd get a misfire
Now they're all new
Also did tranny fluid change
Car is very happy now
So is owner driver

I'm getting ready to cross 50k miles, so I suspect I'll be changing plugs soon, too. Thankfully, I changed the coils a couple of years ago (no misfires, but pretty much all cracked). Car has run like a champ since then

Ill try to repost all the pics in a simpler fashion
Have more in store for her
I'm at 150 000 km now
Eagerly awaiting spring so the summers can go on and I can give her a full clean and detail
And then seek out some twisties
She's been amazing all winter I must say
And it's been very cold, tons of snow and ice
She's so spirited and easy to slide and control
Loves drifting

Pete, just curious--did you file a claim with the other driver's insurance for loss of value given that the car now has an accident on the record?
