Default Wheeler Dealer 993 Episode on March 24th

Not a 996 but should prove to be an interesting episode.

Should be lots of "oily bits" to fix and after Edd mops the paint it should be a cracking example of a high performance german sports car.

Its a great show, lately they have been making some money, you have to smile though when Ed totaly rebuilds a car at least 50 hrs labor and then make $500 on the sale!

It is a great debate which goes up Mikes (****) on a daily basis. Their take on it is Ed China is playing the role of you or I handy home mechanic who's labor is free. Thing is few of us own a lift or have the mechanical knowledge that Ed China has. Not to mention accessories like that portable lathe to turn down the rotors on that Boxster.

So true. Love the show. They make it look like it happens over a weekend, but it's months of work.

funny he just posted this on his facebook page...musta been watching this thread!

"After 11 years I'm tired of explaining labour costs on the show..almost every hour! Edd plays the role of a home mechanic, anything that's done outside the shop we always factor the costs, we split the profits we make or reinvest into more cars. We don't really care about the profit..it's nice...but we are more interested in saving cars. Most of what we do is achievable with a good set of tools, guts and time...and for the record I work just as hard and I'm also a fully experienced mechanic. It's just the show isn't made that way. No doubt I receive dozens of insults now as usual but please just try to enjoy the show after all the car is always the star in Wheeler Dealers."

Edd China goes at a 993 with counterfeit Chinese parts and a rattle can.

I actually like the show, but sometimes... "Don't do that!"

Don't understand why a Mike, is so pissed, it's a great show that everybody I have spoken to loves watching.

RPM, I know the rattle can early episodes were very much do it on the cheap, but lately they seem to be focussing on quality repairs and paint.

I love Mikes defense. If he works on cars too the why does he have perfectly manicured nails and why is it that Ed has gotten considerably more grey hair since the show started? I know Ed started wearing those orange working gloves lately.

I was surprised he could fit into both an mr2 and Elise but the Elise drive was a joke. They had to have someone wedge him in there and help him out I'm betting.

Great show regardless.

If I ever win the megamillions, I am putting Ed China on retainer to teach me everything he knows. That guy is an amazing mechanic and body man. The rust work and welding he does on that show is a hell of a lot harder to do than he makes it look. I really love that show and like China in particular. He is the ultimate low key Brit. He will spend 8 hours putting on a new convertible top and remark without irony "well it is a bit of a fiddly job."

The other great TV mechanic is Roger, the guy who works for the Chasing Classic Car guy. Roger is a freaking genius and apparently Porsche is his specialty. He is such a curmudgeon. Heck with Wayne Carrini. Roger needs his own show. The guy is a riot. He once dryly remarked while trying to get an old 356 to start "well, its a Porsche, so its not all bad. But its not all good either".
