BTW Matt, what are your thoughts/experience with the combination of RSS mounts, and the Function First tranny mount? What order did you install them, and what did you notice after each?

I did the RSS mount first. The trany mount about a year later. I recommend doing the engine mount first. There is a little more vibration (very little) with the RSS mounts but with the trany mount there is a real increase in vibes (again still not too harsh) While I'm really happy with my updates and the additional performance they afford, I track my car and the additional harshness is okay with me.

I just got my RSS engine that are going in along with a Function-F1rst semi solid transmission insert. First thing I have to say is these things are almost too nice to actually install.

I agree MiamiC70! The RSS mounts not only look well made, but are beautiful as well! The factory RS mounts look downright agricultural in comparison. I'd love to hear your thoughts with the combination of motor and transmission mounts.

Trj, I'd especially appreciate your experience, since you've done the motor mounts first. It sounds like the transmission insert creates a lot more vibration than the RSS motor mounts do once you combine them.

The amount of vibration is relative with the FF trany mount. It is more harsh than stock but it does add a lot better shifting feel.

Don't understand this issue of apparently better shifting. The 996 has heavy cables as opposed to solid linkage for shifting. So given that the cables will move with the box while still maintaining solid connection to the gear lever assy, how does the new box mount effect this??

The engine and Trans move when you shift and the stiffer mounts limit that movement. Make the shifts more positive.

Another happy RSS mount owner. It's too bad these have to be hidden in the engine compartment!

Run a Lexan rear deck lid and shine some LED's on them if you realy want to show them off.

I know this is an old post, but I recently bought the FunctionFirst yellow 70A insert and I love it. Seems like it's a perfect balance just a bit below the 80. Just a bit of rumble in the cabin, a touch of vibration through the console armrest. Shifts feel great.
