It was in LA and had black 17 " wheels right? I was looking at buying that car also.

My '03 C2 has 57k on the clock. New clutch at 45k, did the IMS thing 2k ago, just because. Replaced a water pump at 48k. It's my daily driver and makes the commute a hoot.

My 02 C4 Cabriolet just hit 57,000 miles. Just purchased it a month ago. I haven't replaced the IMS. I bought it because it was a one owner car and they took excellent care of it and i'm gambling that they had already had it replaced. The dealer had no record of it unfortunately. Wish there was a simple way of checking.

If it had an LN bearing they would have a record on file. Look under the hood see if it has a sticker indicating IMS replacement. I'd try real hard to try and contact the original owner. If it hasn't been done you really should consider it.

I checked under the hood last night and couldn't find anything saying it's been replaced. I also went went through everything in the glove box which looked like it had never even been opened. I did come across a business card of a piano teacher located near me in Chicago. Hoping it can be a good lead to contact the previous owner.

Did you look on the door jamb or the underside of the door (drivers side in my case) ?

I declare 120k miles! Running perfectly. Unbelievable how solid this thing drives with 120k on it. There is simply no doubt the Porsche 996 is the greatest value high performance sports car on planet earth. When I think I probably could not get a penny over 18k for my car it just blows my mind. It still pulls and sounds like a BEAST above 4,000 rpm.

I know this isn't an especially high number - but when the wife and I pulled back into the garage after a weekend of anniversary fun, it caught my eye.
