991 drl/turn signal into 996
Background: I recently purchased a 03 C4S with a blown engine as a project car. The engine work is still a ways off, but I am making plans for other work to be done on the car.
The front end of the car has been modified with a RUF style bumper and Gemballa style hood.
I guess it is a modified copy of the RUF RT12 (pictured below). I've looked online, but cant find who made it. The seller said it was a custom piece.
The car is now in Canada, but was originally a US vehicle. So, LED DRLs were added within the openings. They probably looked OK at the time, but now they look very cheap and ruin the look of the front end. Also, as you can see, the grill material has to be replaced.
So, I had an idea. Have my body shop mold in some new 991 DRLs. I tracked down a couple on eBay.
The plan is to modify the front bumper around new lights to look something like the GT3 or RUF RT35
I have a question... Does anyone know if the new DRLs and turn signals can be wired directly from the existing wiring, or do the new 991 lights need a transformer or ballast or other before connecting? Here is a close up of the electrical on the back of the DRL
