Default Problem with Litronic / Bi-Xenon headlights

I am trying to diagnose a problem with one of my headlights (other one works fine). Sometimes, when I turn on the lights, it does not come on - but if I turn the lights on and off once or twice, it will usually come on. I noticed this problem for the first time a few weeks ago, and thought it might be the bulb, so I changed it. Once the light comes on, it appears to be of normal/usual brightness.

So, assuming that the bulb is probably good, as I understand these things, the issue will either be with the ballast or the igniter. Would appreciate any insight anyone has on this.

Also, is the igniter integrated with the ballast? I can't seem to find the part number for the igniter anywhere.

I would replace the headlight switch first. Probably the easiest and cheapest first step. I've had to replace it on e and the symptoms are similar to what you describe

Igniter and ballast is one box mounted behind headlight cover in the back of the headlight unit.

I would try swapping ballasts before throwing any parts at it.

I had very similar issues and simply replaced the headlight switch. Very easy DIY and a common problem w/ 996's.

Headlight switch is the issue. Not bad to DIY. Suncoast Porsche has them in stock.
