I got the 2002 Boxster last year at 36. 9 months later and 37 bought a 996 turbo! Both cars are awesome!

Just turned 64, purchased my first Porsche in the last week of being 63.
'03 C2 manual, Basalt Black Metallic, full leather (black), 64,000kms (39,000mi) when purchased.

Also proud owner of a rust-free factory original Audi ur quattro 20V 1990, 105,000mi, a Honda Integra Type R JDM DC2 1996. A Honda Integra Type R DC2 race car with K20a transplant, a Renault Megane 265 RS 2015, and a 1999 BMW E39 M5 (for sale to make room for the 911), Amarok ute, auto AWD for tow/service race car.

11 years motorsport experience: tarmac rally - Targa NZ, circuit racing, 24 Hr Nurburgring 2010,11,13.

For me a connected driving experience is crucial - and a manual gearbox essential - all my cars ONLY came with a manual box except for the 996, but manual in that was a must-have. I value lighter weight and 2WD as these enhance the driving experience. Speed across the ground and faster track times ONLY matter in my race car - for the street the drive must be as involving as possible, and that means 2WD (or ur quattro! )

Always wanted a 911, nearly bought one 4 years ago, but warned off the 996s, so got the M5 - fabulous touring car, but so different to the 911 driving experience.

'90 urq 20V, '03 C2 man

Bought my first Porsche (My black 86 944T) at 19, then the addiction began, resulting in more 944's, a boxster, cayenne, now the 996 purchased at 26.

It may be that most 996 owners (or 911's in general) are older due to most of the youth crowd wanting hondas and the more "ricey" type things, and don't want to bother doing research on something like a 911, as they just assume they are expensive to buy and to maintain and insure, and don't bother to look into it any further, grab an old civic and off they go with autozone "upgrades" and a penchant for seeing just how many "fogeys" they can pi$$ off at any cost.

Overall though, after taking my time and looking into things, I have a wonderful addiction (how many can say something like that) and many more years of p-cars in the future, I hope. I get attached sometimes... AND a wonderful community to be a part of, rennlist, my local p-car club, and euro shows and gatherings all over.

Purchased just before I turned 27 this year. Paid my BMW off and sold my house in NC so decided to get myself a new weekend car.

Default Another oldster

Bought the 996 a year and a half ago, at 68, as a retirement gift to myself. Never had a Porsche before, but my second car, at 17, was an ALFA Giulia Spyder, and the Porsche's predecessor was a BMW Z3M roadster. There were a few fun cars in between, including an XKE and a Dutton Phaeton. I feel young when I drive it, but not when I get in and out of it...

Gee... Didn't think I'd be in the majority... I bought my first 911S when I was 26 and my two 996's this year at the tender age of 60.
