Default Options for OEM radio

I have an 04 C2 with the "upgraded" bose stereo/speaker package. Actually the head unit says Porsche but I was told it is the Bose system. It is a fiberoptic system. I wanted bluetooth for phone calls as well as to play apps like pandora from my phone. Are there any aftermarket solutions that work with the current system vs. replacing the head unit, amp and wiring to get around the fiberoptic?

I have a 03 C4S withe Most system and have not found a cost effective option for Bluetooth or Ipod. The right choice seems to be a double DIN total upgrade. I did find a product caleld MObridge that was supose to work with the existing radio but it was to costly for me. In the end I sent my CDR23 to Becker audio and they hard wired a jack into the radio that let me use the line out of my Iphone and Ipod rather than the headphone jack.

The MOST system pretty much suks ballz, it's the only OEM system that I would recommend ripping out entirely (the full bosectomy we call it.) I think Becker's gear is just fine and can be saved. The easiest solution, if your still happy with the sound quality of the MOST system, is to add something like a Motorola Roadster 2.

. I also have an '03 Targa with the dreaded MOST (least) radio. Question, was the Becker audio line in jack stereo? I've read other posts that have cited it as being mono. I did a hardwired (amplified with a switch) FM modulated iPod charging hookup (isimple), sound is so so.

Unfortunately, what seems like common sense (dump the head unit, keep everything else) pretty much doesn't work that way with the MOST crap. The amp isn't great, the speakers aren't great, the wiring harness for the amp is a head-scratcher (and that's WITH wiring diagrams). I spent countless hours tinkering with the Bose MOST components in my '03 Boxster - at one point I even had two head units running. If I'd kept the Boxster, I would have ripped it all out and started from scratch...

The Denison Gateway says it does what I'm looking for. Has anyone used this product? Pretty expensive, to the point of maybe its worth just completely gutting the current system and replace with aftermarket. Or I just live with the system I have.

The Gateway will do what you want it to, but once you're looking to spend real money, you might as well install a system that actually sounds halfway decent.

Actually I'm pretty sure I DID answer your post, just not with the answer you wanted. There are a few after market products that will integrate with the MOST, unfortunately they are cost prohibitive. To restate, your best bet is to go none of the way (blue tooth speaker phone with FM transmitter) or go all the way (bosectomy.) With the bosectomy even the wire harness is trash.

I had luck in integrating an iPad Mini in the double DIN section and moving climate controls and a new Head Unit (HU) below near the gearshift.

I followed what was done here and I love the result.

I too have the MOST bus and had to get help in looping it when I removed the OEM HU. Next I had to add a small amp to drive the Sub Woofers but everything else is off the built in amp from the new HU (meaning I kept all the OEM speakers).

Over all - I can stream from Pandora, use weather apps, Bluetooth stream real time engine info from the OBDII port directly to the iPad. Its totally awesome and took my car into the 21st century.

So - while there are Denison's products to keep OEM radio etc in place but I preferred to go the iPad route and its been great.

Late to the party but the only options I am aware of are:
1. Denison - Expensive way to just get an ipod connected
2. Becker Radio Mod - Fairly inexpensive way to get ipod connected but that's all you get
3. Replace head unit AND amp - you're probably going to spend about $400 for a decent head unit and amp but believe it or not, even a better amp makes the Bose speakers sound better. This will give you your bluetooth, ipod, etc and it's a pretty easy DIY (first one I did on my car).
4. Replace everything - this is relatively expensive and time consuming given that you will have to modify your speaker grills to use them on other speakers.
