Not really... The installers will almost certainly still be using the windshield antenna and associated amp, so it still needs to be wired properly and be functional.

A new amp is being installed too. My installer has extensive experience with Porsches, so I am operating under the assumption that this antenna amplifier issue will be addressed. But, I will be sure to ask him about this issue when I pick up the car tomorrow. I appreciate the info... always glad to learn something new!

I told him to bypass the windshield antenna and drill into the rear quarter to mount a mast-type antenna.

Perhaps a big whip antenna in the back?

Nah, the whip looks silly. But I think this new antenna looks pretty cool. I can even get stations from Moscow now.

OK, the new stereo/entertainment system is in! (see before and after photos below)

Well, reception still reeks. But, at least now I can get satellite radio, and it connects via wireless (Bluetooth) to my cell phone, so I can listen to the Los Angeles station via iHeartRadio. Not as convenient as just turning on the radio, but a "workable" solution anyway.

I like to listen to the radio when I am cruising in 6th gear on the turnpike but otherwise when I am using gears I like to have the radio off and listen to the engine. My radio reception is not the best so where is this window antenna amplifier located?
