Your getting close and closer to my predicted selling (quick) price, which is sad because it effects all of us. I sincerely hope I was wrong but I was just looking at the downward trend. As news of the settlement continues to leak out, it may get worse.
Its a shame this car is hard to sell, even at $31,000. Its so nice I would consider keeping it rather than just dumping it. You can thank the net scare gurus for the current 996 trend. Most people believe that if a car maker admits an issue, it must be really bad.

Thought about holding onto the car, but it would get drive so rarely I'd rather sell it and use the proceeds to pay off the Lotus. It's been a great car though!

Thought I would give this thread a bump for the weekend in hopes it catches the eye of someone looking for a nice 996 Cab. Lowered the price on Autotrader to $31,500. I would like to get $30,500 if you or someone you know is interested.

Questin here is why did Porsche cover the motor in a 9 yr old car, was it CPO? IMS failure prior to settlement ?. Why didn't they cover the install labor? Might have a friend interested.

The car was CPO when I bought it back in '09. All of the major maintenance had been done at the dealer (ie 60k service), although I'd always changed my own oil, replaced water pump, etc... This was all pre-settlement, everything I'd read up to that point basically said don't count on any help from Porsche. The dealer did say that when they ran the diagnostic (checking for over-revs) they didn't see anything to indicate missed shifts or general engine abuse. When they called and said they'd provide the engine, but I would have to pay for the install I was pretty happy to say the least!

I trust that you will submit a claim for the labor you paid as I believe the settlement covers 100% if you are/were the owner of a CPO car. I think it would be sweet to see you recover some of the labor dollars.

I can understand where you're coming from. I think people can always find a car for less money, just depends on what maintenance they're looking at once the purchase is done.

At the end of the day, other than the transmission, just about every major wear item on this car is new. I'm not in a huge hurry to sell the car, although it would be nice to have the extra space in the garage. That's why it's listed as 'Or Best Offer.'

Although your 996 is very nice and has some great extras, to most uneducated potential buyers it may look like an "ordinary C2 Cab". Nothing really unique that makes the car stick out from the tons of other out there.
Now if it were a C4S Cab, that would be a little more unique. The NA996 market is really odd. Sometimes "Cab" is not even a plus. I see your down to $30,500. Lower it to $28,000 or $29,000 and I bet you will get alot more attention. Sorry its taking so long to sell. I think Im stuck with mine so Ill just keep replacing parts and save it.

Congrats on the sale. When I bought my C4S the seller was also a tad surprised that there wasn't more interest in the car (at his price). Of course, I was the *** for the seat and paid up, I have no regrets in so doing. I really love the car and it is equipped almost identically to my C2 and very close to what I would have ordered if I had the kind of money to buy new. (and thanks to Porsche it also has a new crate engine)
