Simple. From 2003 onward:
To install a standard aftermarket head unit, regardless of size, you'll need to either:
- replace the amp as well. (Nothing else is required. Although many replace speakers, that's not necessary.)
- or install a conversion device that converts the head unit's analog signals in copper wire to the amp's digital fiberoptic signals (the above NAV-TV doesn't list the 996 as a compatible vehicle, but there are likely others).

You can buy a Sirius/XM kit that should connnect to the AUX connector of the OEM headunit...

I believe you can call Becker USA and they'll sell you an adapter. I had one in my car before I changed my headunit, although my car was a pre-MOST vehicle. The adapter allowed for direct connection of my iPod/iPhone and it had a little 3.5mm input for Sirius/XM or something else. I believe you can also get an adapter with RCA plugs. I'd call Becker to get the details. If this doesn't work, you could always get a good quality FM modulated unit that connects inline with the FM antenna.

When I had my AUX cable installed, I just ran it to the glovebox. I connected the iPhone and put it in there, and it worked great. I could play music directly from the iPhone or I could use Pandora. The downside is that you can't control the iPhone from the headunit or see the song title/track information on the headunit.
