NO I was in Franklin Co. VA. Radar Illegal here. So it would have been worse had I been packing radar.

Test driving a 991 yesterday. About 90 mph in a 45 zone. Cop saw the temp tag in the windshield and said to himself "freakin Porsche dealership, these people need a track" and didn't even pull us over. Nice cop.

Ivan - I'm curious - what do people run at that kind of trackday in the way of tires - the pics show snow at the edges and a wet/damp track, assuming temps are in the 30's?? Is anyone running the normal complement of track tires (i.e. shaved, slick, etc) or is it more high performance summer rubber or even high-performance winter tires? Seems like it'd be a big conundrum the night before?

You know, Like the OP, I normally don't mind if I get caught, it's the law, I know, and if I was cooking, or running stupid, it's well deserved, but when I'm doing the exact same as everyone else, and I get pulled out (in the 996, of course), that burns me up. 73 in a 55 on I64 in Henrico county. Motorcycle cop just lit them up behind the whole group of traffic and went right to me. Laser.

naturally tires were a hot topic in the paddock - My 888's are dead, bald - I opted to leave them home and just run 6/10ths on my street tires...then I discovered my street (conti DW) tires were at (or beyond) the wear bars in the rear - YIKES! they actually sucked all day and I was putting a lot of heat in them (about 6 psi first 15 minutes) I dropped pressure all day till they hooked up at about 10 PSI lower than I would run them in warmer days - it was a guess....all i could do is lower them - they sucked

a few people had grip on street tires, and I saw some MPSC's - brand newless than 100 miles, he said he had grip (GT3RS)

temps upper 30's then it drizzled, then outright rained - I ran my best laps in the pouring rain - which doesnt make much sense but I think I was just dialed in and working to be extra smooth - which is all we needed to do early in the day anyhow

as for the tailwind down the hill - I dont get it, you mean the C4S? That's my buddy Dave!

Another VA person here and we've been running V1s in our cars since the late 90s.

Contrary to what cops will tell you, it's only an equipment violation which means it doesn't show up in your license or carry any points. Additionally its a myth (since the 80s) that they can destroy it, but they can confiscate it but in my experience you really have to **** them off.

At least in NoVA the county/city guys don't really care or notice that often. Staties run detectors that will pick up the V1 and I've had a few ignore real violations to chase me down for it.

In the end its only a $50-75 ticket in my area (based on jurisdiction) plus court costs.

I'm not advocating that you break any laws, just clarifying the reality of running them in VA.

Nice!!!

It's very cool to see the snow bordering the track. Around here(Philadelphia area), all HPDE and AX is shut down for the winter.

What group were you running with?

Dave - thanks, I thought the snow was cool as heck too!

This was open lapping all day, no run groups - just drive as much as you like. I run B or A on PCA days...depending on who is there and who I hope to hook up with and play with

the really cool part of that day was we let about 1/2 dozen really crazy motorcycle racers run a 30 minute session right before lunch...and one more 20 minute session later in the day. I had never seen bikes run so it was interesting...and man did they look cold! My heat was on high but with the window open i was now all that warm in my car so I can imagine they were freezing - saw a lot of finger wiggling when they came in to the paddock....
