Michelin Pilot Super Sport users?
I will be due for a set of new tires soon, and unfortunately I have limited choices apparently in the sizes I need. The PO has tires that are a bit too narrow for the aftermarket wheels my car has. They are currently at 225/40/18 front and 255/40/18 rear. The rears are stretched way more than I could ever live with. With my measurements, I'll be going to 245/40/18 and 285/35/18 for best fit.
In these sizes, it appears my best option is the michelins. I demand best grip possible, but able to handle rain well. These tires have outstanding reviews. I plan on doing occasional autocross on these tires as well as daily driving them. I have extensive experience on previous cars with Dunlop Direzza Star Specs doing autocross and daily driving, and absolutely loved those tires (enough that I always went back to them) I'm curious is anyone on here has experience with the Dunlops, AND the michelins that can give me a first hand comparison. Want to make sure I'll be happy with the $1,200 tires...

There's pretty extensive reviews on the tires here and overall they rate among one of the top overall performers I sell for Porsche. I'm sure you'll find reviews to be very positive.

i was running Nitto extremes, 235, 35 r19 fronts and 285,30 r19 on the rears, they were worn when i got them , but not that bad.
I replaced the tires with the Michelin pilot supersports and im very happy.
I was gonna go with the Falkens but i heard they were very nosiy.
The Michelins are great and they Grip!! i tend to push the car, especially on-ramps and winding country roads and always feel very confident with the michelins.
they also have an awesome replacement warranty.
Ive even driven the car in the cold with the Michelin tires and they perform beautifully.

Can't compare to the Star Spec but they are the street tires on my RS. Dry grip is as nearly as good as the Pilot Sport Cup OEM tires and the SS are great in the wet. The Cups are lousy in the rain. So far the Super Sports are the best road tire I've used for wet roads as compared to Pilot Sport, Sport Cup, P0 Rosso and Conti Super-contacts.

Michelins are the tire I always want to buy... Pilots, Super Sports, whatever. They are inevitably the best choice, and have been for years. But the price reality usually sends me down just a bit to Contis, Bridgestones, or similar. And those work just great too.

Eh I think you can do better for your money - I had both star specs and PS2s on my m3 and I have to say the star specs are probably better (though more loud); certainly better dollar for dollar.
I went with hankook ventus v12 evo on my 4S; you'll have tough time arguing that pilot sports are worth the extra money.

Don't know about the specific model you mentioned, but we've been Michelin fans ever since we put PS2s on after being dissatisfied with the factory Contis (though I love their SUV tires).

I had PS2's before, and think they are extremely over-hyped. I never was too fond of them, so for me to like the SS's they'd have to be substantially better. I wish they made the Star Specs in 18"... It'd make this much easier!

you cant really compare a starspec to a Pilot Super Sport, two different classes of tires, the new starspecs are basically an R rated street tire, same with the Bridgestone RE11. That being said, in that sizing it is probably the best tire on the market in my opinion. I find traction is superb, dry handling, wear, road noise etc. Wish wet traction was a little better, but you cant really expect much. On my C4s I have had the Pilot Super Sports, Pilot Sport 2's, Bridgestone RE050's Pirelli P-zero Nero's, Conti Extreme Contact DW's, Hankook Ventus V12's and Dunlop Sort Maxx Gt's. I would say that out of those the PSS is my favorite and Dunlop would be second just because of the bang for the buck it offers.
That being said I am not sure how many of these are long term because I will try out a new set every 2 or three months. I think I am the only one I know that goes through tires about twice as fast as I will oil changes ha ha.

99 C2 - Michelin Pilot Sport AS - best damn tire I ever put on a car. Love the look, grip, wear and price. Great wet weather traction and very confident. Have about 20,000 miles on them and they look new, especially on the inside tread on the rears. I would definitely buy again. Cheers!
