Default I am sorry stupid question

So I just purchased my first Porsche, a 2001 911 4. I have previously owned 2 Corvettes and 2 BMW's. Anyhow, I have looked cover to cover through the manual, and searched the internet... Here is my question, I am sorry in advance...

What are those things located on the headlights? It appears to be two sensors (black) on each one... I am missing one of the four, but don't know what it is.

I just looked on my wife's Boxster in the garage as it should have the same headlights. She is missing all 4 on hers.

I think you are referring to the nozzles for the headlight cleaner. You press the wiper stalk down and it will spray your headlights. Pull wiper stalk up and it will spray the windshield.

Try autoatlanta.com for parts...they seem to have most everything.

Pics would help alot. The headlights have to be on for washers to work. They should have chrome covers that are known for taking flight when they are activated.

I am not sure if this is the same for a 2001 - but on thee 2004 here is the what the part looks like. The chrome cover does not snap on, it is a part of the assembly. Apparently some folks, like the shop that did my clear film, think that the chrome cover "snaps off" - but snapping it off means breaking it.

Here are some pics - I think I paid close to $50.00 per unit - not too hard to install on your own.

I've attached a photo I found online of a MK I 996 headlight washer with a missing nozzle. I assume that this is what you see on your car. I've also attached a photo of the new nozzle, which you'll need to order to fix the issue. They are ~$200 from your dealer. Does this look like the issue that you're facing?

They are the spy cams or machine guns. Depends of the option code. No you will not find anything on these in the manual, they were kgb only. Must be a euro car?

You won't fail inspection due to this part. Mine looks just like this and I just leave it alone. You can replace it but they fly off pretty easy.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but if $200 is going to make you crap your pants, then prepare your wife for some nasty laundry when it's time for tires, brakes or other maintenance!

Its not the $200, its that i gain NOTHING at the end of it. I have no problem buying an exhaust for $3k but if I have to buy a tire valve cap for $3k there is a problem.
