With all do respect, I think the lights looked fine stock. There is nothing wrong with the amber lens. Why cheapen them with black tape? Nice car but peel the tape off, JMHO.

The hoodline goes right across just below the amber/clear margin of the lamp housing. I had to go well below that with the mask in order to get enough of the amber to shine through, and not only cast enough light, but to also be proportional as well. It came out to about 1" of amber, split evenly between the amber/clear line and the hood line. A bit of contour towards the edge, down to 5/8" or so. It follows the line of the lens refractors, like 4-5 lines from the top.

I think I nailed it. The amber ~sort~ of has the same shape as 991 taillights. (ducks)

A+ for effort but not my cup of tea. There are some covers like these if you dont want to do the whole light.

Thanks.

Only because I have a dark, near-black, colour is why I can get away with this corny black-dark grey mask scheme. It obviously wouldn't work as well on other backgrounds. The fact it has an iridescent finish gives it some depth and helps it blend into the "lens" theme. Again, better looking in person.

There is actually a number of different colours of tape, but I don't think it'd have a chance in another colour scheme. Seal Grey would look excellent w/this black.
