Default mk1/mk2 gt3 lip on stock mk1 bumper?

Will it fit?
Has anyone attempted this?

Here's an mk2 gt3 lip on an mk2:

Not sure what was done in this pic but I'd like a look similar to this:

I know it's a boxster but you get the idea:

Here's the Mk. 1 GT3 lip. It's pretty subtle, to say the least.

Wow, thanks for the pic Bruce, you're right!
Is that your car? If so, did you try an mk2 gt3 or cup lip?

Yup, my car, at least until it's sold

No, I didn't try the later model lip. I'm not sure it would have been an easy fit but, in any case, there are no other aero things on the car, so that splitter might not have looked right. I wish that the Mk.1 piece had been just a little more substantial, but the whole car was meant to be more of a q-ship, so I can't complain.

I've got an MK2 GT3 RS (even larger) front lip on my MK.1 Bumper. It's a beauty and you'll be able to get it on without issue.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear dead-eye!
Do you have any pics of it installed?
How did you go about attaching it?

will dig some up for you.
attaches like all lips: 3M tape was provided and there are screw-in points as well. As i recall we just lined up the center hole, bent it a bit to conform to outline of bumper, screwed in when appropriate, cut off any excess off the sides of the bumpers (the stuff the protrudes into the wheel arches and down the left/right side of the bumper depending on the lip/how far back you want it to go).

It's honestly one of the more brainless thing you'll do as far as body mods go.

It seems that the mk2 gt3 lip (# 996 505 986 92) is waaay more expensive than the cup lip (# 996 505 986 91)
Which is too bad, because I feel like the mk2 gt3 lip would work better with the stock bumper.

Found some comparison pics:

That looks good, I might have to upgrade to that. I like the fact that it still makes it look more aggressive without hanging low.

Anyone care to comment on whether this lip scrapes any more or less than having the MK1 GT3 lip like BruceP's?

Dead-Eye, were you ever on the Subaru forums?

My car was even lower than before and I would have to go at an angle over the "speed waves" we have around town but could do so wihtout scraping. I raised the car up a bit (probably still lower than GT3...or most normal people would want) and can now drive straight over most major road obstructions and can get in/out of some really steep/****ty ramps to underground parkings (just go at an angle and watch people gawk as you lift one wheel in the air lol).

I doubt it's noticably worse than an MK1 lip. How low's your car dude?

Was never on any Scoobie forums that I can recall...

I had to raise it slightly above GT3 specs because I was scraping getting in/out of certain parking lots/driveways even going at a good angle.

This was my before when I used to scrape everywhere:

Yeah you were lower than me. When i get my car back from the shop I'll check how low it is now. Honestly i don't really notice it except for getting in and out of poorly paved areas.

Splitters should be treated as consumable items (every 25,000 or 5 years whichever comes first lol) but they are tough and durable (thank god for Polyeurethane).

Yes I fully agree. I don't understand people that paint this part either, especially if they are lowered.
