First Mod ?? 996 Maxflo Competition Air Intake
I have some "maintenance" costs that are my priority right now, but I am looking for my first mod this summer. This cold air intake from Fabspeed looks like good value (adds some HP and a bit of a roar), and an easy DIY. My headers, cats and mufflers are all stock now..Anyone else install this ? Any opinions on it ? Thanks.

I'm sure it will add some intake roar.
One of my favorite mods is the Fister D muffler mod. It's inexpensive and it makes your Porsche sound like it should.

I opted for the EVO cold air intake, combined with the Fister Ds and am happy as a pig in slop I prefer the look of the Fabspeed CAI with the CF, but my budget screamed Nooooooooo

I just put the k&n in last week. Sure is loud but the car is running quite rich as it smells like gas on cold and warm start up, it also fumbles a bit on cold start up until it settles at 800rpm.
Anyone else experience this?
Can't beat the sound though

You may have an air leak somewhere and the MAF is getting bad readings leading the ECU to go into some limp home settings or just plain wrong settings. The idle should be around 650 I believe +or- 25rpm.

I've heard a lot of comments on the horsepower claims for new intakes. The consensus is that most of what you get is more intake noise and no HP increase. I'd say save your money on the intake and get your mufflers done by Fister. I had mine done over the winter and I finally got to drive it last week for a couple of days. Well worth the money.

I also have the Fister Exhaust MOD, and a CAI... I shipped mine to him first instead of the exchange program, car has 30,000 miles, and I was hesitant about the exchange and what I would get back, I even marked mine a bit just to see if I got the same ones back, and I did... I didn't do any coating either, I think it was about 300 bucks....
Car really sounds bad-as$!!! Every once in a while going under a bridge or in a tunnel I really get on it, and It's pretty intense! My buddy has the Maxflo set-up, and I actually prefer the Fister Sound, and quietness driving slow... and how loud it gets if you gun it! Not sure about performance side...

Probably the intake system giving the mass air flow sensor a hard time with the turbulent air, at a guess.
