CDR-23 dead - any options?
My CDR-23 radio/CD is dead. It keeps trying to reset itself over and over - like a computer that fails to boot. I pulled the fuse for about ten seconds but that didn't help.
The local dealer quote $757 for the part only. I'm thinking of getting a used one from Ebay for about $200-300. I'll need the removal tool, too.
I've been through the archives and don't see any good options. Is there anything else I can try?

For the price of used OEM deck, you can buy a decent aftermarket deck with more features, better UI, better sound and the ability to play modern audio formats (iPod, MP3s, etc.).
Most companies make at least one model of deck nowadays with adjustable dial colors so you can match the aftermarket deck to the factory amber lighting.

CDR-23 is MOST. Upgrades to a head unit that doesn't completely suck require replacement of the amplifier in the frunk as well. Lots of examples online of people that have done some very sexy retrofits, but it's difficult and expensive to do.
Cheapest option is most likely gonna be mailing it off to Becker for repair.

"... had to rip out everything speakers/cables/amps/receiver."
Amp and head-unit, yes. They run fiber-optic between themselves.
Speaker wires and speakers, no. They are not fiber-optic. You don't have to rip those out.
But I will concede that the speakers aren't great. If you decide to go aftermarket head-unit and amp, you may as well get new speakers as well if your budget allows.

There are MOST adapters that can be purchased to allow an aftermarket head unit to work with the fiber optic system. I've seen many aftermarket installations on the Cayenne forum using adapters.
