They don't do PPIs or at least they didn't back in August when I asked them. On recommendation, I took my C4S to Stevens Creek for the PPI and was very pleased. Ask for Jeremy DeFrisco only.

It's a good deal.
It is rare.
If you like it, the PPI checks out, and that price range is what you can afford, pull the trigger and don't regret it.
You could agonize over +/- $3k or $5K and end up losing this car and not find another one this clean for months to come. Life is short, every day sooner you're driving a 911 the better.

I'd be tempted to check out that San Diego car. That is $3-4k worth of warranty.

Welp, I pulled the trigger on the San Diego 40 Jahre. Got a great deal, including a Fidelity Platinum mechanical warranty thru 5/15 or 92K mi, and a Auto Knight Tire and Wheel warranty thru 5/14. Flying down and picking it up this coming Wednesday and driving back to SF along the coast. I'll post some pictures from that sure-to-be-memorable drive.

Thanks, everyone, for your help! What a great community.

X51 is an amazing engine. Way stronger and freer revving than the specs appear vs std engine(I've had both in my car). If I was ordering a new 911, I would sacrifice every comfort and convenience feature to get the X51 option! Clean PPI = go for it! Congrats, you're going to love it!

Make sure you add your number to the "official" 40th AE registry thread.
