Greeting,
After 7 years of 996 ownership, I am ready to post. Mine is the 911 on the far right in the attached photo - the one with the Ruf wheels. The picture was taken at a Fabspeed sponsored Meet and Greet. At the time I was running just the wheels and Fabspeed's cat back exhaust and intake mod. I recently decided to give up on the "trade up to a GT-3" notion, and instead went further down Mod Lane.
A visit to Dougherty Automotive in West Chester, Pa. included an LN Engineering IMS upgrade, a factory RMS update, an Aasco single-mass lightweight flywheel and Sachs motorsports clutch. Now we are rocking.
As expected, the spool up is immediate in every gear, the clutch engagement smooth and direct, and the bag of bolts in the dryer soundtrack coming from the transmission tunnel makes me giggle. But you can hear the same at any Club even so why sweat what will dissapear with the windows down.
I believe this is what Butzi intended for us to do with our 911s. To strip away the fluff of regulation and civility and get down to some serious motoring. I'm on it!

Nice intro and good to see your first post. The RUF wheels work well on your car. The West Chester event looks like you had great weather and a nice turnout. I grew up in Eastern Pa.

Great first post and story with pics. Looks like the mod bug bit you hard. I also spent time in JH and HS in Gladwyne, Pa. Love those RUF wheels.

welcome...nice wheels....i just had my IMS/RMS flywheel and clutch done last month. it does feel great starting off fresh. shifting is smooth and tight.

I wondered how a 996 would look with those wheels... I once tried to buy a 964 with the same design.

Thanks for the welcome. I love the simplicity of the Ruf wheel design. My cast models were manufactured by O.Z. and I bought them from a Canadian Speed Shop that used to adverstise in Sports Car International Mag. I waited until the U.S. dollar was strong against the Canadian currency and realized about a 20% price discount as compared to the Ruf distributor in Texas.
We are fortunate that S.E. Pa has a good concentration of local resources for us motorheads. I purchased my Fabspeed exhaust and intake when Mr. Fabiano was operating out of his house in Ambler. I think he had them welded up in New Jersey at that time. Good Stuff.

one of these days this summer we are going to have to get all the PA people together and meet somewhere like Altoona or state collage or something for dinner..... We seem to have a few but I am up here away from all the action.

I had my IMS/AOS done at Dougherty Automotive just 3 weeks ago. I agree with the OP, the SE area of PA has some great support for enthusiasts.

I'm literally just over the fence in DE but grew up and spent most of my life in West Chester/Newtown Square Area.

The Delaware Porsche Guys use Fairwinds Porsche, SE PA uses Dougherty, If you want your 993 fix you can buzz by Holt Motorsports in West Chester, and Fabspeed is a short drive from there. We are in good company.

I'm just a little north in the Lehigh Valley. The local PCA group is great, went to my first event late in 2011 and plan on trying to autocross this year.

Hey Turkertwo, its great to hear from you and I do remember your car at the event. The wheels do like very nice and give it a nice stance. That was a great turnout with great weather and cars. Thanks for the feedback and kind words. We are preparing for our move to a new larger 30K sq.ft and state of the art facility in Fort Washington in about month or so. We will doing a big grand opening/cars and coffee event to start off the new year. We will making a post about it on all the forums, so we would love for everyone here to come out and say hello. We will post pictures and dates once everything is ready.

im confused? are they actually ruf wheels or knock offs? they look nice for sure,i know the real ones are a little pricey!.....good luck

Randy, They are as real as Ruf wheels get. Ruf is a tuner and remanufacturer of Porsches, but they do not cast or forge wheels. They farm out the manufactuing. In this case, to O.Z. Racing.
