Strippers

No, not that kind of stripper....

My uncle is building a stripper out of a 2002 996. I come from a long line of gear heads and race car drivers.... The family's team being LOPESPORT racing.... We raced/tracked everything from shifter carts to Trans Am Series Corvettes over the years. This is just a track day special for DE weekends. and FARA club races. We installed a 997 3.6 motor yesterday and began setting up the cooling system with a third radiator and finished up with a new fuel pump. The car is slammed to the ground now. I was lending a hand all day and snapped a few pictures. Check out the 996 cup coilovers... We hope to have it on track for it's first shakedown next weekend at Homestead Raceway. Ill post some more pics this week as we complete the build.

Go to your source, right click, rotate, and then re-post.

I'm not sure the rear Sachs shocks are long enough to work properly with standard 996 wheel carriers. I hope they do as I have a set sitting here in my garage but IIRC the issue was enough droop. You can always install a spacer under the shock mount but regardless, please let us know how they work out....

Another absolute necessity, especially in the Miami heat, is to run a trans cooler of some type. I use a Tilton pump to a cooler behind one of the side radiators, but others have placed the cooler up in the rear wheel wheel. The Gertag trannies just can't handle the heat from racing.

Since I'm giving away all my secrets, I use this gear oil which was originally recomended to me by Paul Guard and Viking on this forum:

Thanks for the tips Jr. if he has any issues I will recommend a cooler. I doubt he will enter any enduros. 30 minutes in the car and he is usually spent... Although the weather has been in the high 70s and should continue that way till March.
