I cannot tell you how many times at the track I proudly proclaim (either to other instructors or to students)

OK...This time we are going to do it while texting!!!

obviously not going to but it raises the awareness of how silly it would be to try and do that...yet people do it everyday, at 70 mph tailgating another car who "doesnt know the track rules" in an SUV that cant stop as well as the guy in front of him/her

I saw on TV a couple nightrs ago our state police issued 1400 citations for cell phone use and 200 for texting last year.... they did NOT release in that statement how many HOV lane voilators they issued as I am pretty sure it would be 4-5k!!!

they are really watching out for our "safety"

sorry, but its how I see it

Texting has one good use. Try this: at a stoplight, start a text or email, best if it's urgent or important. When the light turns green, put the phone down and drive. Do not resume the text or email until and unless you are at a red light. If the light turns green, put down the phone. I guarantee if you do this you will not hit any red lights, and you will get where you are going PRONTO.

This is an issue that makes me angry. I would like to see licenses suspended for texting, as the effects have been proven to be worse than drunk driving. I think all new drivers should be on probation for 3 years. A ticket for texting during that time should result in revocation of the license. The US Census Bureau's figures up to the year 2009 show about 500,000 people are injured each year due to distracted driving. I'm guessing that from 2009 on, the figures will be much higher.

My wife always gets mad at me, but I routinely scream at drivers who are on the cell phone while driving.

BTW: read the comments on this video - hilarious - overwhelmingly negative towards the guy who filmed this....

Why own a Porsche if you are so distracted doing so many other things while driving? I just don't get it...

New Penalty for texting while driving is:

Traffic cops stops you, orders you to drop your pants then inserts your phone where the sun don't shine!.

This is the definition of irony.

I'm just glad the Pcar driver showed restraint and didn't hurl some expletives back at the other guy. Lord knows I probably would have.

Pcar drivers have a bad enough reputation as it is. Kudos to this Pcar owner.

BTW, I don't condone texting while driving.
