I need a new cat. I have a 2003 996 and the cat on the passenger side is shot.

I found a few used ones but I'm not sure which side they are for.

Are they interchangeable?

Meaning are there separate sides or is here one side that you can put on either side.

If they are different how do you know which is which?

Will a cat from a 2001 fit a 2003?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Unique per side.

Go by part number to determine which side they belong to.

Yes 2001 to 2003 is ok and 2003 to 2001 is ok.

Visually, holding the passenger side cat in your hands, with the inlet (flange with studs on the short tube) facing away from you on the right and the outlet (plain long tube) aiming to the left, the O2 sensor holes will be UP!
