Looking to buy a 2001 996 3.4 6 speed Cab

And would like to know what to look out for with these model years. Do they come with LSD's factory or options? Cheers!

$47,000 US? You gotta be kidding me! You would have to be taking LSD to pay that much! Actually I have no idea what you mean by "LSD". But it would have to come with about $20,000 US of "LSD's factory" to get it to 50 grand territory (check under the bonnet)! Besides, Porsche is pretty much all about the yeyo, acid is for hippies and college kids.

well maybe things cost more in NZ ? But anyway,. i'd first look for a 2002 or newer (3.6l engine and all sort of other useful upgrades). PSM (stability management) was on some cars - but I don't think limited slip diff ever was on 996 ? If you do a search here i;m sure you'll find a thread with all the option codes listed - - - Good luck

Can't direct you price wise for a NZ Porsche, but LSD was an option for my 99' C2 coupe. Condition, service records and whether you like this Porsche, along with a PPI(pre-purchase inspection) should help you decide.

If you do a search here i;m sure you'll find a thread with all the option codes listed. If you're going to use on track, LSD might be nice - but then you don;t want cabrio. For street driving with rear engine / drive - LSD is less useful than in many cars, PSM probably good enough. There maybe some third-party LSD that can be fitted in 6spd box - but maybe not worth the cost to do that on a '01 ... better just pay more to start with and get the 3.6 with PSM .....

Good luck

Can't help you on the pricing info for NZ, but I can tell you that LSD was an option in '99 in North America. Once the PSM became standard in 2000, LSD went away for a few years (but was on the RoW GT3 versions of the 996).

Great car for you at my local dealer... but he is about 12,000 miles away from you. Shipping and import duties would be excessive.

I didnt realise the 3.6 version was so much better... they are not that common here, 3.6 C4 cabrio... the LSD was an option it turns out, and the one Im look at doesnt have it!

Limited Slip Differential, and cars cost more in many countries than USA.

NZ951 et al,

Just a follow up data point for our Kiwi Carrera Mate. I spoke above about a '99 Carrera 2 6-sp cabriolet with 27k miles (Vesuvio/Space Grey), at my local dealer. It sold within 3 days for the full asking price of $33,996 US. There were 5 hot buyers. The first guy had to get money together and they rolled to number two who paid cash up front.
