I'm sorry but I need to ask before the winter hits

I have Nokians on my Touareg, and they are awesome. Never tried them on the Porsche, but I do drop from 18's to 17's in the winter. I use Vredstein's at the moment on my C4. I've probably never driven a better handling winter car.... you'll love it, whatever tires you choose.

Sour puss....the best driving comes in the snow. It really keeps you on your toes. I have Pirelli 240's on 18's. I would love to FLA driving year round though.

285/30/18 diameter 24.73 1.4% difference
265/35/18 diameter 25.30 .87% difference
as you can see the 265 is closer to the 225's than the 285 you are using....it will not effect your abs/psm/awd etc ...its a very common combo

If you are driving only on snow, the studless tyre will work ok.
For icy roads, I would choose this tyre or similar studded tyre
If you are allowed to use studded tyres on publicroad's?

Lots of different perspectives...
Up to last year I've never used my C4S in winter but decided to give it a try.
Well it handles great with the right snow tires, it's really not an issue at all as long as there's no snow "banks" crossing intersections or snow higher than 3" high... or your car will turn into a snow plow.
Also most of the time it's not nice white fluffy snow but nasty slush or salt saturated substance not to mention the enormous amounts of tiny gravel...
After going over mainly dry roads my P. car was covert in this white powdery substance, did the taste test (hey I'm a guy, what ya expect ) and wouldn't ya know it...salt!!!
Yep in every surface, seam and junction SALT
After that came the stone chips and exposure extremes of going from a garage temp of +15 Celsius to -35.... in 2 seconds flat!
Needles to say I only used my C4S 10 times.. maybe.
So can a 911 be a winter car?... yes
Is it capable?... yes.
Is it fun in fluffy snow?... hell yes!
Should you ?...
I'm taking the Benz instead.

I share your opinion that cars (especially these cars) are meant to be driven year round.
This will be my first winter season driving my 03 C2 coupe in the winter.
I will be using my stock 18 inch wheels (summer tires are on my victor innsbruck wheels) and I am looking at the bridgestone LM 60s winter performance tires.
they are rated very high and Tirerack has them in stock in 18.

I've been checking regularly for a couple of months now.

if you want to go with the Blizzak's or for that matter any tire to fit on your 18" rims, you likely need to downsize to:
225/40/18 for the front
265/35/18 for the rear
They should have those in stock at tire rack
225/40/18 for the front
265/35/18 for the rear

Especially since I'd be raising the profile in the rear.
Any Thoughts?

I can't help you with that as its just numbers to me but i'm sure there are plenty of guys on the forum that can help with that question

Three Wheelin'
If you currently run 285/30/18s on the back then 265/35/18 is the correct tire size for you, unless your rear wheels are 11 inches wide. Don't worry about raising profile, the 265 offsets any of that increase. If 11 inches wide, 265/35/18s will not work.

Thanks for the help. I'll be ordering the Blizzaks today.

Just want to let everyone know that I decided to go with the Nokian's on 17" turbo twists for the winter and had them installed today (I know its early but i had some free time which is rare).
Putting aside traction for the moment, the ride is unbelievable smooth. I never thought i woudl actually feel the difference between the summer tires and the nokians when i am driving but it is night and day as it relates to how smooth the ride is. It absorbs so much, an incredible difference for those who were wondering themselves.
I'll update again once the snow hits and i get to take her out for some fun.
