Help with Manifold Adapter Part
I recently replaced the OAS on a 2001 996 Carrera Cabriolet Triptronic. In the process I lost a plastic adapter piece that connects to the driver-side manifold (air filter side of the manifold). I ended up ordering a new one. But shortly after I received the new one, I found the original part.
The problem is that the replacement part I ordered for this car is different than what I pulled off of the manifold. I did some online research and it seems every picture shows the version of the part that matches the replacement one I ordered. I found one reference that indicated that two different versions of this part may have been used in 2001. It seems like I should be using "elbow" version of the part.
Below is a picture of the replacement part. The original part (now on the car) has no elbow pipe, just the flat part of the piece, so it is basically a plug.
So my questions:
1) Is my non-elbow-plugged setup normal/ok on this car?
2) If not, and I need to install the Elbow piece, where does it connect?
Thanks
Rob
