Default Changing my headlight bulb... ?

I don't have the factory toolkit - how do I remove the headlight assembly? Can I use a regular socket with extension? what size? anyone know?

If you don't have the tool, I believe an allen wrench will work. Do a search, I think it was mentioned as an alternative to the one in the toolkit.

It would be a nut driver or socket with 3" extension. It is a 1/2 turn locking mech, turn it 1/2 turn and the headlight will fly out on to the ground. Be ready to catch it. Tool has 5mm stamped on it.
Make sure to line up all four of the mount guides with the slides when you put it back in so that you do not damage the socket.

Did you take the spare tire out? The tool kit and jack assy are mounted in a foam "nest" inside of the wheel.

Glad I nosed around when I first got the car. Odd tool that I think just looks like an L shape for nothing in general except maybe one of the old style handy spark plug wrench's. It's probably in there.

well i feel silly... it was in the spare

there was no foam insert, but it was shoved in there behind the spare. And yes, that headlight just popped right out.

Now to figure out where the bulb goes... lol

Pretty sneaky of them hiding that stuff in there

I hear they hide a good engine under the hood too.

Be sure you seated the headlight assembly all the way, it can be a bit tricky.

Also make sure all the pins are aligned and not bent. If any of them are bent in the socket, the headlight will not work.

Don't touch the actual bulb with your fingers the little bit of oil will damage it from the heat. If you did touch it clean it with alcohol.
Check the fuses, also there are headlight relays under the dash on the sidewall by your left knee one of those might be bad.
You should have a fuse diagram paper folded up in the fuse box, by your left ankle. If you do not ask for a copy of the MK1 or MK2 (what year is yours again?) fuse layout from someone on R'list.
