Default USB / MP3 Player Interface for stock radio

Just found the following in a German Porsche Forum, thought it might be interesting for people who want to keep the car stock but want to add USB/MP3 player to the stereo: http://www.solisto.de/en/frontpage Works with all Porsche MK1 head units as it looks.

I have this in my car but it doesn't work properly. I had it shipped back to Germany but the problem is still not resolved. It loses connection with the radio and becomes unavailable from the source button until you reset the radio by removing the fuse for a few minutes. It happens at least once a week. Very annoying. Also doesn't like working on very cold mornings!!! Otherwise it is very useful and can store 10 folders with 99 songs in each folder. Maybe I am the only one experiencing this problem but I thought i'd let you guys know anyway ...

Do a search on ipod and CDR220. For less than $30 and 15 minutes you have have your ipod/itouch/iphone/MP3 playing perfectly through your current setup. I did it years ago. Well worth it!

Where do you place your iPod and what do you do with all of the wires?

This is what I am using on the CDR-220:

- the Becker supplied plug that goes into your CD-changer input on the back of the unit.

All in all less than $75 and even allows for hands-free calling with the iPhone.

It's a very clean solution (most wires tuck behind the radio) and there are several brackets out there to hold your device in place. I like the ones that clip into your vents.

I ran the RCA cable down the passenger's side of the center console and out at the bottom of the console by the batwing.. I use a Nano and have it velcroed to the CD holder (the Nano connection is on the bottom of the unit).

I'll get a picture and post it later.
