Spare parts to always have available

I don't see the point to having a inventory of items that wear over a period of time. Checking the rotor and pad thickness every so often can give you a heads up on when you need it. You're just putting money in a 0% interest bank...
Water pump might be something to have and hoses but I'd rather just schedule a replacement of the parts at a certain interval. If something goes out, are you really going to be able to replace it right away? Normally when something happens it has to wait for the weekend for me.... There's enough places out there that have the parts in stock and you can express ship them.
That's my $0.02.
The only time I buy in advance is if I see that oil is on sale and I'll get two oil changes worth, or I buy filters a couple at a time since it saves on shipping.

If you are tracking your car fairly heavily, having a backup set of comsumables and spares of stuff that is prone to failure is almost essential. I always have spare pads. Usually not rotors but if I see a sale, I snap up a set. I always have at least one if not two bottles of srf around. And as I mentioned, I never go to the track without some cable ties. I think Sean's question was asked from the perspective of someone who tracks their car. Sean is a pretty good shoe btw.

walking the paddock is a great way to find out what what the "prepared guys" have on hand. Chit Chat and checking out what's going on, what is being replaced or failing and the cost to have "extras" on hand.
I think when you get all these things packed up and the tools to do the work on the fly in the paddock between sets, you will find a trailer or support vehicle in the list of spares to have on hand

I didn't have the understanding that this was for track related parts. So for that I agree with certain parts. However, carrying a large inventory isn't always the most frugal way of using a car for day to day. The parts availability for these cars is pretty timely.
