Codes p1128 p1130 - Car redlines at 5600 rpms at WOT

99 M96 engine. Ran amazing coming home from the last track day (maybe too good?). Started running real sluggish the next time I drove it. I drained all the fuel and refilled. Still runs the same. This morning on the way to the track it started surging a lot under acceleration, feels like its dragging an anchor and tops out at around 5600 rpms at wide open throttle. At partial throttle it will slowly climb to 7200 rpms. A couple miles from the track it finally dropped P1128 and P1130 codes. Any suggestions for trouble shooting out here at the track?

That's an O2 sensor error, but it could very likely be caused by a dirty or failing MAF. I'd try cleaning the MAF first, and see if that fixes it. If not, then replace the MAF. After that if you don't want to keep hunting and pecking, take it in.

clean throttle, idle control valve..... might also be dirty/bad maf, cats or 02 sensor. I would do one item at a time though. My .02.

Turns out the block off plug for my resonance chamber had fallen out. So the maf wasn't sensing all the air the engine was getting. I plugged the hole again and its not cutting out anymore but its still not running very strong at all.

After the repair you'll need to reset the ECU to clear the codes and remove the erroneous fuel trim values stored. Disconnect the battery for 5-10 minutes and reconnect it to clear everything and start fresh. It will take a few miles to relearn everything and get back to normal.

Just make sure you have your radio code handy BEFORE you disconnect the battery. You will have to enter your code after you reconnect the battery.
